How to Delete eBay, Seller, and eBay Store Accounts

Closing Your eBay Account:

With username and password

1. Sign in using the username and password of the deceased.

2. In upper right corner, under the “Help” drop-down menu, click “Help Page”

3. In the Help Search Box, type in “Close account”

4. Click “Closing your account” link in results.

5. Under Closing your eBay account, click “Submit a request to close your account”

6. They will ask a series of questions as to why you are closing the account. Make sure to choose “No. Please close my account.” for the last question.

7. Check the box “I read and understand the above information” and finally click the “Close my account” button.

Be sure that all of your fees are paid and your account balance is zero.

There is a waiting period to ensure that any transactions you made are complete. During the waiting period you will not be able to bid, make purchases, list items, or change your contact information, but you will still have access to your account information. When the waiting period is over, you will receive an email confirming that your account is closed.

Once your account is closed, it cannot be reopened with the same user ID or email address. Contact eBay if you change your mind during the waiting period.

Without username and password

eBay asks if the customer dies, to send a copy of the death certificate through a fax to close the account. Customer’s information will be deleted completely from the database after eBay closes the account.  They ask you send a copy of the death certificate and a phone number they can call you at to verify the account information. Send the death certificate to the fax number below:

If you have difficulties, contact eBay at (800) 322-9266.
Note: if you delete the whole eBay account, the Seller,Buyer, and eBay Store accounts will automatically be deleted too. If you want to individually delete those accounts, please follow the directions below.

Closing Your Seller’s Account

1. Log in to your Seller’s Account through eBay Account.

1. Remove your payment information for your credit or debit card or bank account.

2. On your seller account page, select the “All payment methods” option.

3. Click the “Remove” button.

You may continue to accrue fees for any listings you have on the site, as well as monthly fees if you have any active subscriptions such as eBay Stores. Make sure you cancel any subscriptions.

If you have any outstanding balances, make a one-time payment before you close your seller account.

Closing Your eBay Store

1. Sign into eBay account.

2. In the “Account Tab”, click the “Subscriptions” link.

3. Under Active Subscriptions, find the eBay Stores subscriptions and click either “Change level” or “Cancel Subscriptions”.

4. If you have bundled subscriptions with your eBay Store, select the appropriate option to specify whether you want to keep the subscriptions at the new monthly fee or unsubscribe.

5. If you are sure you want to cancel your eBay Stores subscription, click the “Close store” button.
